66 leaves. 27.5 × 16.5 cm. Hardcover. Woodblock printed on Chinese bark paper. Title page in Chinese and Arabic; text in Arabic. Jointly published by the Muslim community of Daxiying in Longmen Village, Xinxing (新興龍門村大西營眾親同刊).

A rare Chinese Muslim woodblock edition of the Mawlid al-Barzanjī, a widely circulated Arabic devotional account of the birth and life of the Prophet Muḥammad, composed by the Medinan scholar Jaʿfar ibn Ḥasan al-Barzanjī.

The Chinese title Zhi Sheng Shi Lu 至聖實錄, “True Record of the Most Holy Prophet,” is a descriptive title used for this Yunnan edition rather than a literal translation of the Arabic title.

The publication statement records that the book was jointly published by a local Muslim community and that the woodblocks were kept at the Nancheng Mosque. It shows how local Muslim communities and mosques supported the production and preservation of books in late-Qing Yunnan.

Contemporary cloth-covered boards rubbed and soiled, with wear to the edges and corners and old cloth repairs. Some light staining internally, with occasional manuscript marks. Overall in good condition.
