Liang Fa Xu Zhi is an introductory work on geometric measurement compiled by John Fryer (傅蘭雅) for the Jiangnan Arsenal’s scientific and technical curriculum. The text explains how to determine the areas and volumes of geometric figures and solids, and is arranged into chapters on triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, ellipses, and various solids and sectional forms.
Designed for new-style technical schools and arsenals, the book helped establish foundational concepts of geometric computation in the late Qing.
